Tips and Exercises

Tips for a game:

Before each game always remember to STRETCH YOUR MUSCLES!!!

Also before each game you should remember to do at least a few ball skills and pass around to get your muscles warmed up.

When you are ready to try and score a goal, you should know where you are going to kick the ball.  Just take a quick glance up, then look at the ball, not the goalie.

If you are running to kick the ball, just run as you would normally, as if you were passing to a teammate.  If you are a less experienced player then you shouldn't try to fake out the goalie.  But if you are an experienced player then you should try to fake out anyone that you can.

Always remember that you can't be afraid to try to fake someone out.  Any good coach would never yell at you for trying.  Even if you lose the ball you probably would learn something, like what moves you can make successfully, as well as which ones you know that you have to practice.

When you shoot try to aim for a lower corner of the goal.  When you aim for the center it goes right to the goalie and they will most likely block it.  If the goalie is short than you should try to get the ball in the higher corners, but if the goalie is tall then it is harder for them to get the ball when it is low.

The best way to take a penalty kick is with the part of your shoe where your shoe laces are located.  When you are shooting you should keep your foot down and keep your body lined up.

On a penalty kick when you shoot, and the ball bounces off the goalie, you should always try to shoot again because it is allowed.  But, if it bounces off the goal, don't shoot until someone else has touched it first.

During a game never wear jewelry.  This could cause serious injuries.

Exercises :

Before you ever play soccer you have to make sure that you warm-up and stretch your muscles.

Make sure that you hold out each stretch for about 15 to 30 seconds.

Most people think that jumping jacks are good after you are done stretching, but actually they torque your muscles.

Make sure that you touch your toes and hold it for just about 15 seconds before you play.  Then do any other stretch, and then repeat touching your toes one more time.

When you sit down to stretch, make sure that you touch your toes even if you had already touched them while standing.

When you are down touching your toes on the ground make sure that afterwards you shake your legs to relieve any tightness you may feel.

Pull your legs back one at a time to stretch your quadriceps.
