Pieces of pre-Columbian pottery from Costa Rica prove that the Indian tribes
did achieve some degree of artistry in ceramics and sculptor. They
also made beautiful work of Jade, Gold, and other stones. Many sculptures
preserved for over 450 years out for display in San Jose, represented animals
and spirits of Indian worship.
Costa Rica wood engraver, Aigrette Ruiz, has become known through the neighboring
nations. After traveling throughout the hemisphere, he wrote and
illustrated three books in Costa Rica.
