The following questions were asked to Mr. Richard Shue coach of the varsity Livingston High school basketball team and by Mr. P.J. Petchers of the freshman Livingston High School team.
Question: How do you feel about the NBA lockout?
Mr. Shue: It was ridiculous.
Mr. Petchers: I believe it was for the best interest of the game. Salaries were and still are ridiculous.
Question: Why do you think Michael Jordan retired at an early age?
Mr. Shue: Nothing else to prove.
Mr. Petchers: Because he was no longer challenged. He decided to go out on top.
Question: Who do you think will make it to the finals this year?
Mr. Shue: Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers.
Mr. Petchers: Utah Jazz and Miami Heat.
Question: Who do you think will be the MVP of the league?
Mr. Shue: Karl Malone.
Mr. Petchers: Alan Iverson or Alonzo Mourning.
Question: When do you think is a good age to retire?
Mr. Shue: 30.
Mr. Petchers: It really depends on the individual and the position they play.
Question: Do you think players like Dennis Rodman are good or bad for the league?
Mr. Shue: Bad.
Mr. Petchers: I think he is good for the league and trouble for society.
Question: Who do you think is the best coach in the league? Why?
Mr. Shue: Pat Reilly.
Mr. Petchers: Pat Reilly. He is a great motivator and gets the most out of his teams.
Question: Do you think Latrell Sprewell is beneficial for the New York Knicks?
Mr. Shue: Yes.
Mr. Petchers: If he passes the ball well and takes better and more efficient shots, I think he will be good for the league.
Question: Who do you think is a better point guard, Allan Iverson or Ray Allen?
Mr. Shue: Allan Iverson.
Mr. Petchers: Up until this year I thought Ray Allen. But after watching Allen Iverson a little more he is awesome.
Question: Who do you think is going to carry the torch of basketball greatness since Michael Jordan retired?
Mr. Shue: No clue, they're all overrated and overpaid.
Mr. Petchers: Grant Hill, Kobe Bryant, and Jason Williams of the Sacramento Kings.
