Most volcanoes are cone shaped mountains which are built up around the opening by lava and other materials thrown out during an eruption. Volcanoes are known as very dangerous and that is true, but most of the time they are asleep. When they are awake they hurl lava, rocks and ash into the air. Volcanoes are a big mountain of dirt with lava inside. When the pressure builds up the objects inside the mountain are hurled into the air at very dangerous speeds. Volcanoes are very dangerous. They can also be underwater and create islands, which are usually tropical, like the Hawaiian Islands. Most people do not know what volvcanos are. Most people do not look at what's beneath the surface of volcanoes. There's a whole world beneath the surface and scientist know hardly anything about it. Scientist have not gone beneath the crust of the earth. A volcano is more than just a pile of dirt there's chambers, tubes, rocks, gases and many interesting things. Volcanoes are portals to the under world they allow us to find out types of rocks never known to the human eye.
