Apache Work
The Apache would not farm because they would
move around so they could raid neighboring tribes. The Apache men
gathered food and hunted animals. The Apache men from age ten were trained
for combat. An Apache boy needed to run to the top of a mountain before
the sun rose to stay fit enough to pass into manhood. The Apache women prepared
food. Women gathered acorns, picked pivons or barbecue mesal and corn. The
women also went up into the mountains to gather wood. Women also made baskets
like the burden basket.
