Apache Cerimonies, Rituals and Beliefs
The Apache belived that there was once supernatural beings that lived with people.Today the Apache still belive that spirits live with humans in certain mountains and realms underground that they own.They would not eat bear or fish meat.The Apache would bathe in a lake to cleanse the spirit.The Apache belived that they were blood relatives with mother nature.They belived that they were the mountains ,the trees, rocks and the wind.
Devil Dancers
The Devil Dancers aren't considered to
be spirits but they possess attributes greater
than other Apache men.The Devil Dancers show up after the dance has begun.They
come running from a hiding spot in nearby bushes or trees.They shake there
elbows, legs,and heads in a violent way and add their loud yells to the
drums.They have bells on their arms an ankles.A clown comes out and people
laugh.As time goes on the beat gets louder and the stomping get heavier.
The dance goes on for three days.
