have some effect on

for example;
People carelessly dump
toxic waste on the
ground,
which seeps into
the underground water
supply, some of which 
we use for drinking,
some goes to the ocean.
The ocean water is
evaporated and
becomes the rain
which falls to the
ground, watering plants,
and supplying additional
drinking water.

This cycle is endless.
