Panther Chameleon
(chameleo pardalis)
My pesonal favorite, the Panther chameleon,
originates from Madagascar. The Panther chameleon is a very colorful type
of chameleon, and mainly has four color phases, the Ambanja, Rainbow, Nosey
Be Blue, and Red. The Panther chameleon is the nicest and one of the most
beautiful. This chameleon is my favorite because it is not to difficult
to keep them healthy. They like temperatures from 55 degrees F to 85 degrees
F with 70% or over humidity and one basking spot in a corner of the encloser
at about 90 degrees F. A (www.pcherp.com/chameleonspecies.htm)
good way of watering Panthers is to mist their cage 2-4 times a day on the leaves or you could put in a mini fountin in with running water. They also eat a veriaty of things. They eat crickets, most insects, and even their own young. They obtain lengths of about 12 to 20 inches and live 5 to 8 years if you keep them healthy and fit. The females and males can be identified easily because the females are dull colored, are smaller then the males, and do not have the color flashes that males do. The females will lay a clutch of 20 to 35 eggs. These chameleons are highly recommended by me for more experienced people or starters.
