Causes Of Pollution

    There are many ways pollution can start.  Many of those ways cause the animals in the Bay get sick or die when the pollution gets into the Bay.  Many ways of pollution are automobiles, power plants, factories, farms and sewage drains. Pollution is one of the first and leading causes of the death of the bay.  Pollution makes a lot of natural things bad and unwanted.  For example, it can make a body of water dead by killing the sea life.  It makes the air bad to breath in.  People can die of pollution.  A lot of people cause pollution every day and don't even know it.  Just by starting a car and driving to work or getting on a bus to go to school causes pollution.  The most common cause of pollution near the bay are automobiles.  Many cars and trucks pass by the bay bridge and pollutes the Chesapeake Bay.  If you look on the wildlife or resource link, you will see some animals.  Most of those animals die partly because of pollution.  If a lot of people keep polluting, the bay will not have any blue crabs or clams.  Pollution is caused by everyone, but it can also be prevented by everyone.

    Causes of pollution like smoke from fires and automobiles are called air pollution.  Air pollution is basically pollution that travels through the air and pollutes things.  Most types of pollution are air pollution.  Did you know that in The Chesapeake Bay, there is 45 million tons of nitrogen.  Air pollution is the easiest way for pollution to get into the bay.  When cars and trucks pass by on the Bay bridge it will take a while but eventually will go in.For more information on ways to prevent pollution, click on Ways To Prevent Pollution link.
