Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the president of the U.S. from 1933 to 1945. President Roosevelt had his very own aircraft in World War 2. It was called the Sacred Cow, piloted by Henry T. Myers. Put into service in 1944, it was the first official presidential airplane. The Sacred Cow’s serial number was 2107451, and was named by Bernard Baruch. Roosevelt had a pistol he carried with him everywhere. He even slept with it. It was named "His". Mrs. Roosevelt's pistol was named "Hers". He had many "firsts" as president. He was the first to leave the U.S. during war, first to visit a battle theater since Lincoln, first to travel in an airplane, and the first to make a foreign-language broadcast (to France). He was president for 12 years. He was always a very sick man. He walked unsteadily and often used a cane. He died in 1945.
