Mussolini

A teacher, a laborer, editor, soldier, politician, and revolutionist. He was born in the year 1883 unto a pious schoolteacher, and his father was a needy blacksmith. His birthplace was Dovia di Predappio, a village in the Italian Romagna. When Mussolini was in his teens, he became a Socialist. Being a pacifist (peace lover) he went to Switzerland in 1902, to escape military service. He was in jail twice for various things. Being gifted as a journalist, he was editor, and writer for many Italian newspapers. When World War I came, it changed Mussolini completely. Instead of being a reformer, he now became a worshiper of power. He was the founder of Fascism, which is a type of government. It was founded on October 30, 1922. He finally became the dictator of Italy and introduced Fascism, making him the Il Duce ("the leader"). Joining with the Axis Powers, Italy was beginning to dislike Mussolini because of his harsh dictatorship. He was finally one of Italy’s most wanted, so fled to Germany where Hitler took care of him for awhile. Finally Mussolini came to his death, when some Italians found him, shot him, and through his dead body into the street. Mussolini was a great hero to some people, and enemy to others. Almost every time someone would say World War II, and Italy, I think of Mussolini, do you?
