United States

When World War II began, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that the United States would stay neutral. When Pearl Harbor was bombed in 1941, that’s when they decided to declare war against Japan. Most of the people of the U.S. didn’t want to be in the war, but the majority of the Americans did want the Allied Powers to have victory. Roosevelt wanted to equip his country with many fighting weapons, and gave the U.S. ships, tanks, aircrafts, guns, and many other war materials. Then on December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. The U.S. was determined to defeat the Axis Powers. They would cut off all supplies to their biggest customer, Japan. But if Japan had bombed your city, wouldn’t you have cut off supplies to them, too? After Pearl Harbor was bombed, the U.S. bombed two of Japan’s biggest cities. Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The United States survived through much tragedy throughout the entire war. All of the Axis Powers surrendered sometime in 1945. The United States was a major factor in the Allied victory. Today the U.S. is a prosperous country and is still growing.
