D-Day:

Today is June 6, 1944. You are on your way to the store for your mother. You nod your head to one of the German soldiers on the corner of the street you are passing. A few blocks later, you hear loud buzzing noises. You look up and notice many airplanes up above. Since the general store is really close to the beach in your city, Normandy, you notice and estimate that there are around 4,000 ships coming near the shore. Ever since the Germans defeated France 4 years ago, you have been wishing that the other Allied Powers would come and rescue France. Your wish has finally come true! You read in the newspaper, that 40,000 German soldiers were killed out of the 600,000 soldiers brought over. You start to pity German famillies, but then you remember all of the French soldiers that were killed when the Germans took over France. You lesson your pity a little. A couple weeks later, you hear that Paris was taken over by the Allies, and now are satisfied with the outcome of the war. You also hear that Hitler isn’t very happy, and wants revenge. You wonder what he could possibly do to hurt the United States, Great Britain, France, and all of the other Allies.
