Battle of Britain

You are in South Britain with your parents when you start to hear talk of Germany coming to invade your home. You ask your father if this means you’ll have to leave home to be safe. Your father assures you that the Germans could never defeat the Royal Air Force. Then in July of 1940 a battle begins, and it is the first battle ever fought to control the air. Later that year in August you hear that the Germans are beginning to attack Royal Air Force bases. You begin to worry, as you have for the last month. Your father tells your family that night that the Royal Air Force bases have good radar systems so they can spot German planes. Then the Germans start to bomb London and other places where people like you live. You wonder, "Will they bomb my home?" They never did luckily. So you lived through the Battle of Britain, and you will always remember the day when Germany gave up the battle, and you won in May of 1941.
