Italy

For most of World War Two, Benito Mussolini, the Italian dictator, ruled over Italy. Italy entered the war in June of 1940, although they made it clear to Hitler that they wouldn't be ready until 1942. Throughout the war, Italy occupied Greece, the Balkans, and other places, and fought just about everywhere. In 1944, the new Prime Minister declared war on Germany because of the demands that they were asking of Italy. Over the winter, many Italians died from lack of coal and other products needed for warmth because they shipped them all to Germany. In 1945, Benito Mussolini, his mistress, and some other officials were captured when the Allies invaded Italy, and they were executed then too. Italy surrendered then soon after the Germans did on May 2,1945.
