MidasMidas was the king of Greece. he was a good king but he was very greedy. he also wanted to be the most powerful king of the world.one day in his wondrous garden with the most beautiful flowers. While he was looking at his roses he found a satyr in the bush wile he was fast asleep. King Midas woke the satyr up. The satyr was named Silenus and was very drunk. Silenus begged Midas not tell Dionysus. He also said that if Midas didn't tell, Silenus would make him marvel at the many trick he could do. When Midas agreed Silenus was over joyed. The god Dionus was worried until Silenus came home, because Silenus was his favorite satyr. When Silenus told Dionus where he had been, Dionus had decided that to reward Midas for his kindness to Silenus. Midas's reward was to have any wish he wanted. Midas thought about it for a long time. He was a good king but greedy and power thirsty. He thought of all the things he could have. Should he go with helping the people in his land, having the greatest wealth or ruling the world. He decided to have a golden touch. He told Dionus that he wanted everything he touched to tern to gold. Dionysus. thought that was a silly wish and asked Midus to reconciter but Midus said that it was his wish. Keeping his promise, he granted the wish. Midas wanted to test his power, so he touched a rose. Magically it turned to gold. After all the excitement, he was very hungry. When he tried to eat his roasted boar, it immediately turned to gold. He tried to eat The without touching his hands. It only turned to gold once again. He wept as if this curse which was thought to be a foolmans dream would go away. When he saw that it was no dream but it was real life he wept and wept and wept. He went out to the garden it was so beautiful that he forgot all of his troubles. his daughter was worried where he was came out running towards him gave him a hug. it happened so quick that he had no time to react. suddenly his only daughter was there no more only a huge mass of gold. He cryed and wept and morned and wished and cursed. No one new whether it was for himself or his daughter. Dionyus came out from the sky. He told him that a greedy dream comes out to be a mornfull nightmere. but it was no good for Midus was only begging to have hid daughter back. Dionyus said to him that he hoped that he learned his lesson he was sobbing so hard that he could hardly say yes but he did and Dionyus made every thing back to normal. But remember greedy dream comes out to be a mornfull nightmere. The End |
