                                Paul Bunyan

Paul Bunyan was a giant lumberjack. According to legend Paul had created America and invented logging in  the Pacific Northwest. He had dug sound in Washington to float huge logs to the mill. Paul cleared trees from both North and South Dakota so that the land there would make better farm land.Also he made the Great Lakes so that his blue ox Babe would have some drinking water.

     No one knows how the existence of Paul came to be but some people think that it developed from old French folk tales about giants. During the 1920's the stories of Paul Bunyan were really popular.
