As you
already know, there are many types of trees that grow in the
tropical rain forest. Some are old and large, some are
younger and small, and others are just babies and very tiny.
The large trees (emergents) have supports on them called
buttresses. The bark of the trees is very similar on most of
the trees. It is typically thin. Trees provide many things
to help people live easier lives. They can provide material
to build houses and furniture; they provide fuelwood used
for cooking and heating; they have nuts and berries for
eating; and their sap may provide material that can be used
for things such as sugar, cooking oil, and glue. Scientists
are currently finding ways to use trees for medicines and to
feed the future generations.
