The people of the rain forest have been living in harmony with their environment for many years. Lately their lives and traditions have been threatened. The destruction of the rain forest has been increasing every year. With it the people's skills, lives and traditions go with it.
Almost all of your friends and family get their goods from stores and shops. Instead of malls, the people of the rain forest get almost everything from plants. They use feathers, monkey teeth, bamboo, and dyes as everyday accessories. They substitute hard to find stone with wood, bamboo and bone.
The houses near you are probably made of brick or strong wood. The houses in the rain forest are made of leaves, trees, wood and clay. It may not sound very sturdy, but it's what the people in the rain forest like.
The people of the rain forest do not want high technology. All they want and need are the traditions their ancestors passed down from generation to generation.
