Epiphytes include ferns, mosses, orchids, bromeliads and other plants that are attached to a "host" plant, usually trees. Epiphytes grow on other plants, but do not rely on them to survive. They make their own food, not like parasites, which would feed off of the tree. The epiphyte is attached to the host plant by a root system for support.
