Why You Should Care By now you're probably asking yourself, "Why should I care about rain forest destruction?" Well, to answer that here are a few answers: 1) Biodiversity- If the world loses the rain forests, it loses an estimated half of the world's species in plants. It is believed that some of the plants in the rain forest remain undiscovered. Plants of the rain forests are used for many medicines that keep people alive. 2) Global Warming- Burning down the rain forests contributes to the man-made green house effect. 3)Indigenous People- When the rain forests are destroyed, people's homes are destroyed. When their homes are destroyed, their way of life is destroyed as well. This last reason may not be directly related to you, but they are people too. They want to live there. It is their home.
