The '80s were a decade dominated by big haired screamers A.K.A. hard rockers like Metallica, Motley Crue, and Poison. Even though hard rock ruled, many new styles emerged like hip hop ,with pioneers such as Run - D.M.C., and Public Enemy. Pop possessed artists like Prince, Madonna and Duran Duran. Techno started to become a respected form of music with Devo and The Pet Shop Boys leading the way. Music Television,or M.T.V., came forth and gave fans music videos, and along with it, a more visual way to enjoy their music. The '80s was a great decade for music that will be popular for a long time to come.

Run DMC was a pioneer of hip hop with hits
like "Its Tricky" and, said to be the the most influential hip hop
song ever, "Walk This Way."

Metallica was a very popular hard rock band with hits like
"Enter Sandman" and "Until it sleeps".
