The '50s brought with it a prelude
to modern music. Even today's most outlandish artists draw from this
decade. Modern music as we know it originated from three roots: Jazz,
Pop, and Blues. With artists like Fats Domino and Buddy Holly, the
music business skyrocketed into something far more than these three
roots.

Soon other types of music
were spawned causing artists to grow and change with the time. Soon
Rock set down roots as the black sheep of the industry. There are
many different artists who are credited with the title of "Father Of
Rock" but only one truly bears the name: Muddy Waters. He was a great
guitar player who exploded onto the music scene and took his music up
the Mississippi to Chicago to create a whole new sound. For people
looking for a good time, Doo-Wop was a soulful, rhythmic combination
of urban beats which showed people how to put on a smile and get on
with life. With all this good came the inevitable bad, and bad there
was.

Buddy Holly
Rock and Roll was shunned by parents while famous artists disappeared faster than they had exploded on to the scene. Elvis Presley was shipped off in the army while Buddy Holly, Richie Valentine and the Big Bopper were killed in a horrible plane crash which would one day be known as "The Day The Music Died". Within all this change, the music revolution caused the artists to surpass the songs in importance, creating teen idols and mega rock stars.

Elvis Presley
It was artists like Elvis Presley and Frankie Avalon whose faces attracted teenage girls more than their music. These attractive young pioneers soothed the ears of America's youth only to pave the road for many teen idols today like The Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys. The '50s; a new beginning for music as we know it.
