Hermes is the god of motion, sleep, dreams, commerce, and traveler. Hermes is Zeus's messenger and being Zeus's messenger, he had to be graceful, clever, and quick. That was exactly what Hermes was. He wore a helmet of gold that had wings on it. Sometimes Hermes had a silver Incas for when bad weather appeared. Hermes got his speed from his golden winged sandals. Apollo liked Hermes and gave him a magic wand that guided him in his journeys. One of the jobs was to lead the dead to Hades in the lower world. Hermes also watched over travelers and made sure they had a good night sleep. Hermes invented many things like fire, written music, boxing, and the lyre.
