Pearl Harbor

On that morning of Dec.,1941, Japanese bombers, fighter planes, and torpedo planes attacked our naval base Pearl Harbor. That attack had brought America into World War Two. The first attack wave had 183 attack planes. They arrived at exactly 7:50 am. They had taken off from aircraft carriers 200 miles away from Pearl Harbor. The Japanese goal was to eliminate the battle ships and the planes on the ground. Because it was Sunday morning almost all 780 air craft gunners weren’t at their stations. Many military personnel were on the shore for the weekend, while others were asleep. The radar at Pearl Harbor base had picked up radar signals that said that there were planes coming in, but they were mistaken for B-17 bombers. The United States didn’t want any wars in the Pacific. The American navy lost 350 aircrafts which were damaged and destroyed. The fate of our world was at stake as Hitler kept reaching for conquest of all of Europe. No one could say what could stop him. in Washington this had become an essential question. Japanese planes attacked Pearl Harbor at 7:55am. By the time the Japanese planes returned to all the carriers at 9:45, most of the American planes on Oahu were wrecked; eight battleships, three destroyers, and three cruisers were destroyed.
