Hitler's Boyhood

Adolf Hitler was born at 6:30 p.m. on April 20,1889 in a small Austrian village.  At the age of six, Adolf entered a public school in Fischlham, Austria.

In 1895, at age six, Adolf 's father retired.  In school Adolf got good grades and got in normal mischief at school.  One time his teacher caught him smoking and he was beaten.  At his home there were 4 children: Adolf, Alois Jr, Edmund, and his sister Paula. His father Alois and his Mother Klara were home at all times.  His brother Alois Jr. was always getting beaten and so he ran away from home.  That meant Adolf was next because he was second oldest.  When Adolf was twelve his younger brother Edmund died of the measles and was buried at the cemetery next to his house.  Sometimes the neighbors would see Adolf sitting on the wall of the cemetery, looking at the stars.

Later Hitler found his artistic ability and could draw buildings out of his memory. So he wanted to become an artist.  But, his father wanted him to be a civil servant.  This started a father /son fight.  Hitler took his art exam, but he failed, so he became a civil servant.  Hitler saw this as a sitting in an office and writing boring papers job,but he had to do it. Being a cival servant made him want to join the military.
