Sharks
evolved many years before the dinosaurs lived and
died.
The
first step of the shark's evolution was Cladoselache.
Cladoselache had three-pointed teeth and was one and a half to six
feet long. It had large spines and ate crustacans and other fish.
Another step in the shark's evolution was Stethacanthus. Stethacanthus was very strange looking because of a large protrusion coming out of its back. This shark was about three feet long.
Hybodus was an ancient shark and it became extinct about sixty-five million years ago, along with the dinosaurs.
Megalodon followed Hybodus. Megalodon looked very much like the Great White Shark, but much larger.
Next in the evolution comes the sharks that we know today.
