Squids can be found in the
North American and European waters. A squid is an animal with a body
and 10 arms or tentacles attached to its head. All of the arms
have suckers. Two of the arms are longer and used to capture prey
while the other 8 help to transfer the food to the squid's mouth.
The squid's body is tinted and spotted with colors that are able to change.
The squid eats fish. Most squids are small but the largest squid
can be have a body of 19 feet with its tentacles stretching another 29
feet. If an enemy is coming close, the squid can discharge an inklike
fluid into the water and hide itself. Some types of squid are able
to jump out of the water and fly through the air for a short distance.
Squids have even landed on the decks of ships and boats.
