There
are over 300 different kinds of sharks found in the oceans today with the
exception of the Arctic ocean. When most people think of a shark
they think about it being fierce. Many do not realize that most sharks
are harmless! Sharks come in many sizes and colors. The smallest
shark found is only about 4 inches long, you can hold it in the palm of
your hand. The largest shark found is called the "Whale Shark".
This fish can be as long as 61 feet long and can weigh as much as 90,000
pounds! Whether the sharks are big or small, dangerous or harmless,
sharks must constantly swim about in the water or they will sink.
A sharks diet consists mainly of fish. Sharks lay eggs and when they
hatch it is ready to swim and eat!
