The jellyfish is an animal
that lives in the sea and biologists call it a "medusa". Jellyfish can
be seen off the coasts and can be found on beaches after the tide.
Jellyfish can grow to be 7 feet in diameter or it can be as small as a
pea. Jellyfish are grouped by the number and length of its tentacles.
Jellyfish get their name from the jelly like material that is in them.
This jelly like material acts like a skeleton and supports them.
A jellyfish has no bones so its body is shaped like an umbrella.
Jellyfish have tentacles containing stinging cells that can inject poisonous
threads into its victim. This poison paralyzes its prey which is
then passed to the mouth and eaten. Jellyfish eat small animals like
fish and other small creatures. Jellyfish will sting humans and if
stung by a "Sea Wasp" a person can die within minutes due to the deadly
poison.
