The leatherback turtle lives
in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. It gets up to 6 and
1/2 feet long and weighs up to 1,300 pounds. It is endangered
because it gathers in great numbers and therefore, people can take the
eggs in great numbers. It has also suffered a loss of habitat because
of hotels being built on beaches. There are laws to protect the leatherback
and many different groups have taken eggs to hatcheries to be born.
