Some of the tall grasses are: Little blue stem which stands about 5' tall. Switch grass which stands about 7' tall. Purple prairie clover which stands about 6' tall. Lead plant which stands about 10' tall. Prairie violet stands about 2"-3" tall. Big blue stem stands about 5' tall. Compass stands about 10' tall. Prairie sunflower stands about 10' tall.
Some of the flowers in the tallgrass prairie are: Valerian, Yellow Stargrass, Prairie Violet, Violet Woodsorrel, Mountain Mint, Thimbel Weed, Prairie Coreopsis, and Blue-Eyed Grass.
Some of the animals on the prairie include: bison, cottontail rabbits, red foxes, red-winged black birds, American elk, prairie dogs, antelopes, hawks, burrowing owls, rattle snakes, badgers , coyotes, white tailed deer, horned larks, box turtles, pronghorn. The prairie also includes the rarest animal in North America, the black footed ferret. The animals are what makes the prairie thrive. They fertilize the plants as well as spread seeds so that the prairie returns every year for us to enjoy.
