				Dog and humans may date back to 25,000 years ago.  The oldest definite remains of a dog are a jawbone that is over 14,000 years old.  Another fossil found was 10,500 years old. These dogs were probably used for hunting.  In the 18th century, Captain Cook found dogs on islands in the Pacific Ocean.
