Why They Do Things
By: Steven

You can have a great time with your dog, if you remember one thing - not to play too rough. If you play too rough the dog could get aggravated and try to bite you. Dogs love to play. A great activity for your dog is to run next to you while you are bicycling. It is great exercise for you and your dog. Jumping over and running along a fallen tree is great exercise and a lot of fun! Dogs love to chew on things, especially puppies. A good thing for your dog to chew on is a rawhide bone. It does not do any damage to the intestines as some chew toys do. Swimming is an awesome thing to teach your dog. For some dogs, such as the Labrador Retriever, it comes naturally. Almost every retriever loves to play fetch in the water. You must have a water-proof dummy, otherwise called a chew toy, to perform this trick. If you do not have one of these, you can usually buy them at a pet store, or else your dog`s chew toy is going to be sitting at the bottom of a lake! Dogs love to dig, but they need to know where to dig and where not to dig. If you do not teach them this, they could dig up the garden, or even dig under the fence and run away. All kinds of dogs love sandboxes. They can bury anything they want, and they love the sand.

Anything will work
for a dummy, such as
a squeaky toy without
holes in it. You can buy
a dummy from your local
pet store or any pet catalog.
