Altar stone - the stone in the middle of the inner horseshoe, so named because when explorers found the stone, it was on the ground like an altar
 
Amateur - someone who is inexperienced
 
Archaeologist - a person who digs up ancient artifacts, including bones

Lintels - the stones which top the sarsens, they are sarsens themselves
 
Monument - a statue or stone structure that gives tribute to someone or something
 
Mount Preseli - the mountain in England where the builders of Stonehenge got the bluestones
 
Myceneans - ancient tribe living in Greece at the time when Stonehenge was built, stone carvings in the sarsens may link builders to this tribe
 
Observatory - a place to observe something   Example:  At the observatory we studied the stars in the heavens.
 
Radiocarbon - a way of using carbon, often to date an object
 
Sarsen - another name for sandstone, it is used to describe the large stones which made the outer circle and horseshoe of Stonehenge
 
Sarsen Circle - the outer circle of sarsens at Stonehenge
