Cold Front= A cold front is the leading edge of a cold air mass that advances into a warm air mass. Cold fronts occur because cold air is denser than warm air. This means that cold air is closer to Earth than warm air.

Warm Front= A warm front is the leading edge of a warm air mass that rises over a colder mass of air. Temperatures rise as the warm air replaces the colder air.

Stationary Front= A stationary front is a boundary that separates two different kinds of air masses. Neither mass has more influence over the other. It is as though the two air masses are at a standoff.

High Pressure= High pressure systems are associated with sunshine and good weather. The light winds usually blow in a clockwise direction. There is no precipitation associated with high pressure systems.

Low pressure= Low pressure systems contain counterclockwise winds that form between a cold and warm front. Such systems are usually associated with storms and precipitation.
