The Story Continues...

Dear Journal,

Today, my peaceful life ended. Even though some

berries are lucky enough to be hand picked,

I was harvested by a machine. Suddenly,

my berry started shaking and rumbling.

Then, I got this really weird feeling.

Soon, Cappa Chino started

screaming like a banshee. Boom! We landed hard.

I felt like I was broken in two.

Soon, Cappa Chino started wailing.

Bang! Bam! Suddenly, all of our sunlight was

gone. I had been picked up off the ground and put

into a deep basket. I was buried under hundreds

of other berries with Cappa Chino. Usually, soft,

light penetrated the skin of my berry,

but now it was dark as night.

"Joe?" Cappa Chino whispered.

"Yeah?" I answered him. "What's going on? " he asked.

After a few seconds, I answered...

"The Harvest."

Sincerely,

Cuppa Joe

Dear Journal,

After hours and hours of sitting in the dark and

listening to bubbles, I felt terrified.

Soon I was put into a bath of running water called

a sluice, a machine that has a special kind

of water in it. It is supposed to separate

the good berries from the bad. The good berries

sink, while the bad berries, sticks, and leaves

float. I guess I am a good berry because I sank.

Sincerely,

Cuppa Joe
