Venus is sometimes called Earth's sister planet because both are about the same size,
mass, and density. From Earth, Venus seems to change shape like our moon does. A year on
Venus is equal to 225 Earth days, but a day on Venus is even longer than its year. One day
on Venus is equal to 243 Earth days. (You could have a birthday every day on Venus.)
The surface of Venus is extremely hot - because it's so close to the
sun, and because its thick atmosphere traps in the heat. Venus is the only planet thought
to rotate from east to west instead of west to east. Spacecraft have been able to
photograph the surface of Venus, so it can be mapped out.
