Neptune
This is the status of the planet of Neptune.
Without the use of a telescope, Neptune cannot be seen from Earth. It is 2.8 billion miles from the sun, and takes 165 Earth years to orbit the sun.
Neptune is usually the 8th planet from the sun, Pluto (usually the 9th planet) has an odd-shaped orbit which makes it closer to the sun for 20 years of its 250 year orbit. So, from 1979 to 1999, Neptune has been farther from the sun than Pluto.
Neptune has 8 moons. Like the other "giant planets," it has rings around it - 4 rings!
Neptune is made up mostly of gases. It is about 30,000 miles across. If it was hollow, you could fit about 42 Earths inside it.
