It began on April 12th, 1861 at Charleston, South Carolina there the Union surrendered. The Civil War, was a conflict that put the Northern states against the Southern states. The war went on from 1861 until 1865. Entire populations were supporting the war of both sides. The war had an international impact, not only because of the growing population of the United States, because the war threatened world access to the South’s cotton. The war was between brother and brother. This war broke many families in two.
