Egyptian astronomers developed a
calendar of 365 days a year. They based this on the annual flooding of
the Nile. Also the astronomers noted at which time of the year certain
star constellations would appear in sky. This helped them date much of
their history.
Egyptians could also measure areas,
volumes, distances, lengths and widths. They used geometry to determined
farm boundaries. Their mathematics was based on a system of tens.
The Egyptians had the first doctors
to study the body scientifically. They could set bones, care for wounds
and treat many illnesses. Some doctors were specialized in particular fields
of medicine. Others specialized in such things like the eyes or the stomach.
