Education was very sparse in Egypt, only a small amount of children were educated. Most of these children fall under the upper class of society. These children usually went to school to become scribes. The job of a scribe was usually passed down by a father to a son or daughter. In the schools the children would be taught reading, literature and writing . The kids would write on a form of paper called papyrus. Papyrus was made from reeds cut from the Nile. The Egyptians also used an early form of ink. This ink was made by mixing water and soot. Soot is a black powder made by burning wood.
