They also believed that Pele, the Goddess of Fire, dug a hole on the island of Kaua'i for a home with her o'o' (hawaiian digging stick). Pele's sister, Namaka, the Goddess of the sea, whom Pele was fighting with, destroyed Pele's fiery home.
