Welcome to the Plants section of the web page. The Amazon Rain Forest is home to over 40,000 different varieties of plants. That is ten to 33 per cent of the world`s plants. Some of these   plants  include mosses, orchids, vines, and bromeliads. The plant species have developed into levels where they can best use the available sunlight. These include the Emergents, which have the giant trees. They are scattered throughout the rain forest. Next is the canopy. The top layer is called the canopy. Under the canopy is the understory. The understory is where the small trees grow. Last but not least, is the forest floor. The forest floor holds flowers and bushes. The Amazon Rain Forest has poor soil. So, the soil supports only Amazon Rain Forest plants. All plants that are not natural to the Amazon Rain Forest will die. All the plants require pollination. Lots of the rain forest plants are already extinct.
