Acre - A measure of land equal to 43,560 feet, or slightly smaller than a football field.

Emergent - The top layer of the rain forest where the giant trees are.
 
Epiphyte - A plant that usually lives on another plant and gets its food and water from the air and rain.
 
Evaporate - To change from a liquid or solid to gas.
 
Fahrenheit - The name of the temperature scale on which the freezing point of water is 32 degrees, and the boiling point of water is at 212 degrees.
 
Ferns - Flowerless and seedless plants.
 
Flood - A great flow of water over land that is usually dry.
 
Forest Floor Dwelling Animals -Animals that live on the forest floor.
 
Habitat -The natural home of a plant or animal.
 
Liana - A climbing plant that winds around tree trunks and branches of rain forest trees.
 
Logger - A person who logs trees; lumberjack.
 
New World Monkey - Monkeys that live in South or Central America.
 
Old World Monkey - Monkeys that live in Asia or Africa.
 
Orchid - A plant found all over the world in a variety of colors.
 
Photosynthesis - The process by which green plants use carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight to make their own food.
 
Precipitation - The falling of water in rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
 
Predator - An animal that kills and eats other animals.
 
Prehensile Tail - A tail with a bald spot on it which can grip like a human hand.
 
Rain Forest - A forest that grows where it is warm and rainy throughout the year.
 
Species - Within a group of closely related plants or animals, one of a certain kind such as  a Howler Monkey.
 
Temperature - The degree of heat or cold.
 
Trample - To step on heavily, or to crush.
 
Tree Dwelling Animals - Animals that live in trees.
 
Vegetation - The plants of an area.
