Polar Bear Title

A polar bear is a big white bear of the North.   Most polar bears live in places where there is a lot of sea ice surrounding the North Pole.  They live along the northern coasts of Canada, Greenland, and the Soviet Union, and on islands of the Arctic Ocean.  Polar bears also are found near the northern coast of Alaska.  Polar bears hunt seals and other animals for food.

A polar bear has a long body, neck and head.  It has short, furry ears, and sharp teeth.   Polar bears have thick white fur. An adult polar bear measures from 8 to 11 feet long.  Some polar bears weigh more than 1,000 pounds.   Adult female bears are about six feet long and weigh 400 to 500 pounds.
