Praying Mantis Title

The praying mantis is an interesting insect.  It is a very different insect because of the way its body is shaped.  The praying mantis is an insect with short, broad wings.  Its arm-like legs have sharp hooks to kill its prey.  It stays mostly in warm climates and grows to about 2 to 3 inches in a life time.  It eats other insects and bugs.  The female will sometimes eat the male mantis.

The color of the mantis is the color of the leaves it lives on.  This helps it hide so it can catch its prey.  The praying mantis hatches eggs differently than other insects.  They make a sticky substance that helps attach the eggs to a stick or twig.  The mantis then leaves the eggs attached all summer.  When spring arrives the baby mantis come out of their eggs.
