Whooping Crane Title

The whooping crane is the tallest animal in North America.  Their wings are 6 to 8 feet.  They stand 4 to 5 feet tall.  Adult males weigh about 7.5 kg.  They live in Canada, but spend the winter in Texas.

Whooping cranes make a loud noise.  The loud call  gives the birds their name.  The sound is amplified in their long trachea.  Their feathers are white with black wing tips. The skin on the head is bright red.  These cranes eat mostly small animals such as snakes and frogs.
