| Introduction |
| I am doing a report on the Malayan Tapir. If you have never heard of the Malayan Tapir, you should read this report to learn why they are endangered, what they look like, and lots more. If you have heard of the Malayan Tapir, you can learn even more about this animal in this report. |
| What Do They Look Like?? |
| The Malayan Tapir is an unusual animal. You might even picture it as an ugly animal. The Malayan Tapir is seven feet long and is three feet high. The weigh about 800- 900 pounds. Most of them are black and white. The Malayan Tapir`s nicknames is " Tapir with an overcoat ". The white fur looks like the overcoat. The Malayan Tapir has long, sensitive hairs on its trunk. The trunk is helpful to the Malayan Tapir, because it helps it find its food. |
| I think the Malayan Tapir looks cute, but you might feel differently if you see one in person. They love Mud!!! Mud helps them keep cool, and helps them get away form their enemies. The Malayan Tapir can run very fast in mud. The enemy, like the tiger, might have trouble running in mud. The Malayan Tapir is a different animal than you would imagine. They are related to the elephant. |
| Why are They Endangered?? |
| The Malayan Tapir is endangered because of humans and tigers. Humans are their enemy because the Malayan Tapir would destroy the human`s croplands and the humans wanted to keep them out of their land by killing them, Tigers have Malayan Tapirs for lunch, and sometimes for dinner. |
| Here are 3 ways to help the Malayan Tapir |
| 1. Put up signs at the zoo that may say " Let`s keep our Malayan Tapir safe for harm.". |
| 2. Try to go to South Asia. Talk to the farmers. Tyr to compromise with them. |
| 3. Ask your zoo if they can keep a Malayan Tapir in the zoo. |
| Those are some ways you can help the Malayan Tapir survive. |
| |
| Where Do those animals live?? |
| Malayan tapirs live in the southern part of Asia. They live in the lowland areas during the dry seasons and live in the mountain area in the wet season. The Malayan Tapirs once lives all over Asia, but now, since they are endangered they only live in the southern part of Asia. |
| In one zoo, there are 28 males and 31 females. They are trying to breed them so the Malayan Tapir will not become extinct, but we all need to work at that. |
| Thank you for reading my report. Now you know how much we need to save the Malayan Tapir, and why it is on the endangered list. So please try to save our creatures. |
