India is part of the continent of Asia but is separated by the Himalaya mountain range. In the northern region of India stand the Himalaya Mountains and the Hindu Kush. The southern region of India is surrounded by three bodies of water. They are the Arabian Sea to the south west, the Indian Ocean at the southerntop and to the southeast is the Bay of Bengal.
Most of India is desert like and has a few plateaus. India has a few major rivers flowing through it. They are the Indus River and the Ganges River.
Along the Indus river is the Indus Plain. In this area, there is very fertile soil. This is do to the high silt content in the Indus River. This area was excellent for farming dating back to about 6000B.C.
